Transitioning with Clarity

You have just been offered a new role in the same organization that comes with different responsibilities, a move up, or maybe you have just accepted a leadership position in a new organization and are moving up and out.

As a leader who has transitioned from one role to another, I understand the nuances we face as we let go of our old role and move into the new role. What kind of intention do we put on the actual transition?

It can be difficult to make the time and space for that important transition time when we have operated at a high level in our current organization, enmeshed ourselves in long term projects, or created new paradigms of working that are still in their early stages. How do we walk away and take the time needed between the end of the old and the beginning of the new?

While we still must be involved in the daily as we wind down in our role, we also can set boundaries with intention of how we continue to support and create in our existing organization, so that we have time to prepare for the new skillset and new playing field that we are heading into.

As a leadership coach, I work with you on how to set those boundaries, how to transition with intention and exert control over your exit from the current position and your entry into your new role. It can be a powerful time full of renewed energy, creativity and passion, or sometimes it can be one of reactivity and failed time management, choosing to be in both of your roles at once. Finding your choice in the matter can be a turning point for your future as a leader.
